Bleak is Beautiful
In winter, the bare, the barren and the bleak offer a different perspective on beauty.
This is true in the city.
And it is true by the ocean.
It’s true up close.
And it’s true from a distance.
Always beautiful.

Such beautiful photos. Again we’re on the same wavelength. I took some pictures on Tuesday for a post about barebones beauty of winter. I plan to post it the week of the 27th. Hope you’ll check it out.

Fabulous – great photos specially love the gulls and the fence or boardwalk all blown about and tangled – great comments, a wonderful post. Thanks Melissa.

There’s a lot of tangled-up stuff about, thanks to Sandy. Hoping to post more. Those gulls were in a real little feeding frenzy – would love to know what school of little fish had come in close to shore and swimming close to the surface to stir them up so.

I like it when winter strips down to the essentials.

“…winter strips down to the essentials” – well put. Wondering what winter is like for you across the world in South Africa.

Air as crisp as sparkling champagne; light like crystal, wild thunderous sea storms, raging winds bringing the antarctic’s hoary breath. Relatively temperate temperatures, but icy in the mountains…. snow up in the highlands. My preferred season :-)

Delicious – some day I’d like to see winter in South Africa.
